The Warranty of Habitability exists to protect tenants’ health, safety, and dignity. It requires landlords to provide and maintain housing that is safe and fit for people to live in—not just at move-in, but for the entire time someone calls a place home.
Why this matters:
Unsafe housing is a public health issue
Leases cannot erase habitability rights
Silence often protects unsafe conditions — knowledge shifts power
